“A Bit Mad I Am.” My version of the Mad Hatter. Self-Portrait Challenge.

16 Mar

Hi everyone!

Here is a new challenge that I imposed upon myself.  I really wanted to push my Photoshop limits.  This is my version of the Madhatter.  It’s a bit mad, but then again, that is the point.  I am really enjoying the thought process of creating.  I really feel that we get so caught up in work and in just trying to make every hour of the day productive, that we forget and do not dedicate time to ourselves whatsoever.  I believe I spent about three days at a time for two weeks tweaking and playing with this piece.  There were several times in which I wanted to give up.  I don’t know if it’s art, I don’t know if it is technically sound, but what I do know is that I did best.  I will continue to do my best.  They may not all be gems; however, I do feel that they are a necessary part of the creative process.  At this point in time, I have the opportunity to take a step back and dig in.  Rather than work for a pretty penny, I have the chance to look within and invest in myself.  I have the chance to explore and learn.  I am going to take advantage of it.  On a side note, much to my dismay, the hair is all mine!  I was making the best out of a bad perm.  All I wanted was a bit of volume and some soft curls.  But nooooooooo, that’s too much to ask for.  So, enjoy my new hair-do!  Can you say mousse!

Till next time,

Aimee Michelle

1920’s Inspired Look. “Miss Sassy.”

12 Mar

Hi all!

Here is a 1920’s inspired flapper girl look.  This leads more towards glamour photography. Can we say gaussian blur? How about desaturation? I tried to keep detail in the face and slowly blur going outward. Half of the headband was cloned in because you can never have enough sparkle.

Digital Painting. “Purity.”

Hi!

"Purity." A Digital Painting.

“Purity.” A Digital Painting.

Here is another Photoshop project I have completed for myself. By using several different filters, I have created and made a photograph look like a painting. I actually did paint in some of the flowers on top.

Editing editing editing!

30 Mar

You cannot just go shutter crazy taking pictures and call yourself a photographer. Nope.  You need to sit down and edit!   Or else you will be playing catch up! I am going to make it a goal to edit photographs at least once a week.  Here are some pictures of my little brother that had been lost in my digital closet. By the way, he gets his good looks from me! Lol.

Enjoy,

Aimee Michelle

Sweet 16 twins

7 Jan

When the event came, it was very difficult event to photograph simply because I had never had twins before and I literally had to be at two places at the same time.  When I posed them for their big portrait, one of the sisters was almost an entire foot taller than the other one, so I had to come up with poses that showcased both girls equally.

On Location Quinceanera Shoot.

8 Dec

This shoot was done on location of a Quinceanera.   These photos were taken right when the sun was starting to go down and it created such warmth.  It is always a challenge when shooting outdoors, but it can create very beautiful results.

How Green Screen Photography Works.

18 Oct

At Aimee Michelle Mercado Photography, we offer our clients the option of having their photo session done with a green screen background.  Now what exactly is Green Screen Photography and how does it work?  Green Screen Photography is usually referred to as “Chromakey.”  It is a method of photography in which the work is done digitally.  The bright green color of the background allows for it to be separated from the foreground, and be removed or “keyed” out, so that it can be replaced with another image.   There are several benefits to this.  So for example, we a have a sweet sixteen whose theme is “butterflies.”  We can change the background to an image that has several butterflies flying around in the garden.   Or when winter is near and the weather does not allow for an outdoor photo shoot, green screen is the way to go.  With the green screen, we can actually make it seem as if the photo shoot had been done outdoors.  A very popular theme is fantasy.  We can easily place a sweet sixteen inside a castle surrounded by columns.  With green screen, the possibilities are infinite.  It opens up an entire world and can easily create a personalized photograph that is custom tailored just for you.  Here are a few examples:

Green Screen Photography is very fun and it allows you to be very creative.  It can be tailored specifically to your tastes and needs.  These are just two of the many examples that you can view on my website.
