How to take better pictures with your camera

31 Jul

Who doesn’t have a camera these days? Whether it be a point n shoot or a camera phone, these few suggestions will help you to start taking better pictures with your camera.

1. Don’t chop off heads
2. No bright backgrounds. A bright background may cause the person to look dark.
3. Your subject should be well lit.
4.  Don’t take pictures from the bottom up.  They cause your nose to look big, and nostrils aren’t very sexy.
5. Take pictures with the camera slightly above your head tilting it towards you.
6.  Zoom in.  They make pictures more personal and let your subject be the star.
7. When pushing the shutter button to take the picture, slowly breathe out and this will avoid shaking.
8. When counting to 3, take the picture on 2 1/2, you will have better chances at having everyone with their eyes open and smiling.
9. Clean your lens with a lens cloth to avoid fingerprints and specs showing up on your pictures.
10.  Try to discover new angles and have fun practicing!

What to Bring to an Outdoor Photo Shoot

30 Jul

Many people are so excited about their photo shoot: the hair, the makeup, the beautiful dress… but what they don’t think about, can prove to be extremely helpful.  In the following, I will list essentials to bring along to a photo shoot.  They are very basic and simple items, yet very easy to forget.

10 Essentials to Bring to a Photo Shoot:

1. Makeup bag
2. Brush
3. Hair pins
4. Safety pins
5. Towel
6. Bottled Water
7. Extra pair of shoes that are easy to walk in
8. Compact Mirror
9. Wipes
10. Carrying Bag
11. Umbrella

These are essentials to bring to a photo shoot.  You may even want to consider an emergency sewing kit or for men, maybe even some deodorant.  For children, you may want to bring an extra outfit or shirt. These essentials are meant to help your photo shoot go smoothly and help address any unexpected surprises. And don’t forget to smile!

I am so new to blogging that I am literally getting a crash course on how to associate my blog with my domain and automatically upload the rss feed!  Yikes!  I will eventually figure it out.

Introduction-Aimee Michelle

29 Jul

Hi everyone!  My name is Aimee Michelle Mercado and I am a photographer in San Antonio, Texas.  I opened up my business in January of 2010.  I focus mostly on portrait and event photography, but I am open to new ventures.  I am always interested in learning new skills and techniques.  I feel that one should always be learning and striving for improvement.  I also feel that as technical photography can be, it is also an art form and it allows us to be as creative as we want to.  Feel free to say hi, and I will wave back.  🙂
